Het Gewicht van Lucht

Tabor Idema received a contribution to develop a new performance. In Het Gewicht van Lucht he investigates what the average IJmuiden citizen thinks of his living environment. The voice of the IJmuiden citizen and Tata Steel employee is skipped by the media while it is about their home, work and air. In this documentary performance she visits the neighbors of Tata Steel and films them over a cup of coffee, telling stories about their living environment. They reflect on the air they breathe in and out every day, but the steel employees also have their say. This project gives them a stage, so their stories are included in the quest for a healthy future for all.

Tabor is a multidisciplinary artist who delves into theater, dance, performance and video art. With personal, conceptual and provocative performances, he searches beyond words. This results in a simple yet sharp visual language. In his theater performances, he listens attentively to his body and the space, he responds to the architecture and thus the location becomes his co-player. They are in dialogue with each other, creating a moving and serious slapstick. Now he is especially interested in the social aspect of theater, which is where he likes to seek the challenge. According to him, theater is a meeting place where you listen to the stories of others.
