Cabin Fever

Lisanne van Aert

Lisanne van Aert received a contribution to develop her new theatre text. In Cabin Fever, Freya, a young woman with chronic skin disease, decides she wants to meet her biological father. In the middle of the night, she rents a cabin in the woods and speaks to his voicemail. When Ed shows up, it soon becomes clear that Freya only wants to know one thing from him: how does he live with the disease, which is eating away at more and more of her skin? Cabin Fever is a musical body horror family drama about the isolation of chronic illness and loss of control.

Lisanne van Aert is a writer and theatre maker. She graduated from the Writing for Performance programme at HKU in 2017.
