Change of Scenery

Rotem Gerad received a grant for the development of new music, in collaboration with Lucas Sim. With Change of Scenery, Rotem and Lucas delve deeper into their signature Cosmic Funk sound—a unique blend of Disco, Funk, and Japanese City Pop. The main concept of the album revolves around self-discovery and transformation. Each song reflects a different aspect of the human experience related to change, whether it's altering one's environment, mindset, or emotional state, all through the perspective of both musicians. The album portrays a journey of introspection, leaving behind the familiar and venturing into uncharted territories.

ROTEM, a Cosmic Funk project from the Netherlands, is the brainchild of producer duo Lucas Sim and Rotem Gerad. With three dynamic vocalists and three skilled instrumentalists, ROTEM bridges generational gaps with captivating harmonies and electrifying performances. Inspired by Japanese City-Pop and Disco, their music opens new sonic territories. After their debut EP, PHASE 1, ROTEM has turned heads at events like the North Sea Jazz Festival and a recent sold-out show at Paradiso, leaving a lasting impression. Singles from PHASE 1 gained radio airplay from NPO2 in the Netherlands to Japan's J-WAVE, where they clinched the 25th spot in Tokyo’s J-WAVE Top 100.
