Beatrice Sberna & Gabriel de Oliveira

Beatrice Sberna ontving een bijdrage om samen met Gabriel de Oliveira een debuut LP te produceren. Having developed a body of work together since 2020 - a process registered in their first independent EP Verão é Neve (2021) - Beatrice and Gabriel are now producing their debut LP. Deeply rooted in Italian and Brazilian traditions of songwriting and “folk” musics, they nevertheless reach for a new sound, opening ample space for improvisation and a plurality of forms.

Their music is an expression of its own world of “impro-songwriting”: Italian cantautori, Brazilian “folk” traditions, contemporary harmonies and jazz antics all converge into theatrical vocals and a nonconforming 8-string guitar. Their vision is to unfold storytelling through provocative songs and cathartic improvisation.

Both are Conservatorium van Amsterdam graduates, and each has been on stage with names as diverse as Yamandú Costa, Oscar Jan Hoogland, The Klittens, Maniscalco, and Toninho Horta. Their work has been commissioned by Kunstinstituut Melly, and presented on venues such as MoCA Brescia and Le Guess Who?. They are part of KB_, a collective-label focused on fostering new globalized scenes.
