ARWAH
Laura Jibra'eel received a contribution to develop new music with Wasim Arslan. ARWAH: Valley of the Heart is a mystical Sufi concert that abstractly takes the listener through the various stages of the Sufi path. Combining spiritual Arabic music with musical theater, this concert tells a profound story of transformation and unity, an awakening story that artistically shapes the sometimes complex Sufi philosophy. The concert features new texts and compositions, as well as classical Sufi repertoire.
Laura and Wasim are a creative duo that creates music, dance, stories, events and shows around the Arabic language and culture. Wasim Arslan, a singer and songwriter from Aleppo, Syria, is known for his soulful voice and poetic lyrics that speak to the duality of life and the search for freedom. Laura Jibra'eel, a creative director, dancer and writer with a Dutch-Egyptian background, writes short stories and fairy tales with themes from spirituality, religion and mysticism. She combines Arabic folklore with ballet and intuitive dance to express beauty, peace and love. Since meeting in 2021, Wasim and Laura have been working together, inspired by their shared vision. They initiate artistic projects and also events, focusing on Arab hospitality and family. Part of their income goes to supporting families in Syria through crowdfunding and the sale of products from their AZAHARA brand.
