Tour of Italy

Duo Bottasso received a contribution to develop the project Tour of Italy. In the project, the duo, consisting of brothers Simone Bottasso and Nicolò Bottasso, aims to pay tribute to their homeland from the point of view of artists and travelers now living in Rotterdam. This project was commissioned by Eye FilmMuseum Amsterdam and is a reflection on Italian culture through the lens of the past and today. During this audiovisual show, you will be immersed in a journey through Italy with unreleased images of cities and landscapes from a hundred years ago, enhanced by modern projection techniques and surrounded by the compelling music of the two brothers.

The brothers' curiosity is reflected in the multidisciplinarity with which they vary from dance to theater, from circus to soundtracks, through site-specific performances and audiovisual shows. All while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic through original compositions, improvisation, timbre research and electronic experimentation. The virtuosic and delicate musicians master their instruments with ease. In their sound, sweet popular melodies, expansive rhythms and bold timbre exploration meet in balance. Raised in Boves, a small Italian village in the Alps, they keep the heritage of traditional local music in their sound.
