There is no harmony
Mert Gençer received a grant for the development of new work. There is no harmony is a multi-layered holographic audiovisual show named after werner herzog’s documentary Burden of Dreams. In collaboration with AV artist and technologist Allison Wright, Mert has developed an AV performance which utilizes multiple layers of holographic foil. The visual media projected on the foil is a combination of archival footages, text and audio-reactive visuals. However, because the projection material is suspended vertically in two layers, the visual content is warped; further illustrating the concept of harmony and disharmony. The act starts by embracing the idea of unexplained harmony in life and continuing with each track serving as a reflection of modern life's trials and tribulations, Mert delves into a world we have created for humanity, a world that ironically claims to achieve harmony while simultaneously creating mayhem and hastening our own end.
Mert is an Amsterdam based artist and producer operating under the pseudonym of Lowkolos. He produces a genre-bending fusion music, utilizing narrative textures, samples, complex rhythms, and sound design elements. This blend of artistry, when it combines with visuals, creates a dynamic and ever-changing experience, keeping the audience engaged and excited throughout the performance.
