¡Ni Una Más!
Julia Hollander received a grant to make the film ¡Ni Una Más!: a documentary in which eight Mexican women, armed with their voices and instruments, battle the failing state of Mexico and the countless feminicides and disappearances that occur daily. We follow Mexican Folk singer and activist Vivir Quintana, who has become the (international) face of the revolution growing larger every day. And the six-member Underground women's band The Witches (Las Brujas) who travel through the not harmless suburbs of Mexico and fight for justice with their music.
Julia is a director and anthropologist who makes film productions with social relevance. She is currently finishing her first feature-length documentary that she shot in Mexico City. The documentary ¡Ni Una Más! Tells the story of seven young women who use their music to fight against the myriad femicides and the accompanying impunity in Mexico. Julia has also shot music videos for artists who are women from Mexico and recently from the Netherlands. Slowly but surely, all her passions come together in her work: music, film, anthropology and activism.
