In the heart there is a stone
Naomi Pacifique received a grant to realise a short fiction film. In the heart there is a stone is a short fiction film in which Naomi brings together my interest in intimacy and ecology. In the film, she compares her boyfriend Jorge-Lao to the sea: how can you ask the waves to be something other than waves, to do something other than break? To have known him is enough. She has been influenced by him, changed by him. His reaction is less enthusiastic. He hangs up. Feeling emptier than she would have liked after her confession, she goes to the local rock valley to find inner connection: to hear what the rocks, trees and wind have to say about this. With this film, Naomi aims to reconnect audiences with their own bodies and through nature.
Naomi is a Swiss-Dutch artist. Her work is interested in intimacy and deep ecology. Born in Costa Rica, she grew up in Switzerland and studied in the UK, graduating from Oxford University with an Mst in Creative Writing and from the London Film School with an MA in Filmmaking. She currently lives in Amsterdam where she has developed her first short films and is also currently developing her first feature film, after the night, the night, set in Amsterdam.
