Being a woman

Els Remijn received a contribution to develop the film Being a woman. The film is about an Indian woman who runs a bee farm and fights for her independence in her traditional village. As she finds innovative ways to grow her business to mitigate the effects of climate change, her marriage begins to fall apart. She turns to nature for answers.

Els is a documentary filmmaker and producer. After a career in the international nonprofit sector, she now focuses entirely on making documentaries and short impact films. Her interest lies in human interest stories that focus on people and social issues. She previously directed and produced the documentary Lucky Lobster about an old Zeeland fisherman.
