Lou Lou Sainsbury ontving een bijdrage voor het ontwikkelen van nieuw werk. It's so wet and dark won't you hold me here? is een multi-channel 16mm filminstallatie en eco-horror interpretatie van het latere leven van Maria Magdalena, waarin kruisende geschiedenissen van verzet, spiritueel moederschap en ecologie worden verkend. Filmed in the Netherlands and France, the project will be set primarily in the Magdalene Cave of Mount Sainte-Baume in southern France; a place of pilgrimage where Magdalene lived for the last 30 years of her life. The cave houses a unique abundance of underground water networks, monasteries and dense forests of plants and minerals. The intimate vampiric fiction film explores the relationships between European spirituality and ecology in a time of crisis, as well as the turbulent history of imperial decay as a refuge for victims of fascist persecution by the Nazi regime in World War II.

Lou Lou is een kunstenaar uit Rotterdam die werkt met film, live-performance, poëzie, tekenen, beeldhouwen en textiel. In haar werk vertelt ze verhalen over hypothetische toekomstscenario’s, waarbij ze geschiedenissen van verzet, transformatie en verstrengeling met meer-dan-menselijke werelden onderzoekt.
