Perceptions

Jonathan Steiger

Jonathan Steiger received a grant to develop new work. Jonathan will realise a series of works on how nature, landscape and space are perceived: In four small projects, including two video works using 8 mm film that is coloured, an installation consisting of collected images of an extinct cow and an audiovisual essay on artificial hills in the Netherlands, we embark on a journey into different aspects of the Dutch landscape.

Jonathan is a Swiss artist living in Amsterdam. He uses various media, including video, sculpture and writing, and explores themes revolving around landscape, aesthetics and architecture. His current projects explore the dissolution of the nature-culture dichotomy in the landscapes of the Anthropocene. He received his BA in Fine Arts from Zurich University of the Arts and his MA in Interior Architecture from the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam.
