Marc van Kempen

Marc van Kempen received a contribution to experiment with techniques from 19th century dioramas and 20th century analog film techniques. Normally his work consists of sculptural installations and photography, but he wants to find a way to express the spatial aspects of his work in moving images.

Marc's work straddles the boundaries of photography, new media and sculpture. Many of his projects involve translating digital images into a tangible or analog setting. In doing so, he seeks to stretch and manipulate the rules and aesthetics that govern our viewing behavior and raise questions about the complex relationship between form and content, original and reproduction, fake and real, and the role of material in signification.
