Jordan Herregraven

Jordan Herregraven received a contribution to develop new work. With a focus on themes related to the climate crisis, he wants to create new work that explores these shifting realities through a visual and symbolic language. Using symbols such as the parasol and skeletal bodies (reminiscent of our own) as recurring visual motifs, he wants to expand his use of materials. Since the use of natural materials already plays an important role in his work, he wants to continue integrating welding and textiles through a working period of experimentation to better describe my concepts and the underlying questions therein.

Built on a foundation of recurring and often archetypal images, Jordan's practice reflects the uncanny experience of encountering the unknown and the visceral aspects of reality. Through various media, including sculpture, drawing and writing, he reveals an ongoing mythology. The works reveal recognizable reflections of both the inner and outer experience of our personal and historical lives, especially in relation to nature.
