Hidden People

Saemundur Thor Helgason received a contribution for the development of his new film. Hidden People is a short film about how the Icelandic Huldufólk beings, more commonly known as elves, have actively influenced the urban planning of the country. Based on true events, the film depicts an incident where a highway had to be diverted around an elf-inhabited rock to prevent unwanted repercussions.

Saemundur Thor is an Icelandic artist and filmmaker based in Amsterdam. In 2017 he founded the interest group Félag Borgara (Fellowship of Citizens), with the aim of lobbying for basic income in Iceland through cultural projects. In 2022 he completed his artist-in-residence at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam.
