Alice & Bob
Agustina Woodgate received a grant to develop new work. Alice & Bob is an experimental transmission system in which two projectors dialogue with each other in real time. Alice sends light signals to Bob intending to establish a romantic connection, an entanglement. Once they reach entanglement they will be able to teleport data between each other allowing information to circulate without transportation. The chances that Alice & Bob reach each other are uncertain but the promise that rests on their connectivity opens unimaginable potentials. This fusion of real scientific exploration and artistic interpretation invites viewers to contemplate the possibilities and implications of advanced communication technologies through cosmic microscopic landscapes.
Agustina lives and works in the Netherlands and Argentina. Her sculptural and conceptual practice consists of spatial interventions, objects and installations. She explores how information technologies condition the social fabric and thus society and determine accessibility. She investigates systems, value theories and design logics at work in the urban environment. Woodgate has exhibited at the 12th MediaCity Biennial, Seoul; 2019 Whitney Biennial, New York; IX Berlin Biennial; IV Istanbul Design Biennial; Kulturpark, Berlin and KW Institute for Contemporary Art.
