Tissue Obtains Frame

Jesse Blaauw received support for the development of new work. In the project Tissue Obtains Frame, Jesse aims to develop new skills and produce a series of interrelated sculptures through the application of these skills. They will experimentally apply newly learned weaving and woodworking techniques in the creation of several mixed-media sculptures. The sculptures they intend to create explore the psychosomatic balance between introversion and extroversion within the context of a world where many struggle to find a place to simply exist.

Jesse is a conceptual and intermediary artist who recently graduated with a Master in Fine Arts from the Sandberg Institute and is currently based in Amsterdam. Jesse views their practice as a public unfolding and exercise in "in-between being"—shifting, crossing boundaries. Their works serve as markers of cyclical, dialectical, and psychosomatic processes that demand vulnerability, heartache, deep psychological exploration, readings, and feelings.
